Blogging is a constant learning process, and I know I have learned a lot since first starting this blog.  Adding social media to your blog is a great way to get your readers to connect with you making it a very important blog design element.  Here are some ways you can start adding social media to your blog.

Adding Social Media To Your Blog

  • Facebook
    • WordPress makes it real easy to add Facebook you simply just add the Facebook widget.
  • Twitter
    • Adding Twitter is the same as Facebook, and you just add the Twitter widget

  • Pinterest

  • Custom Social Media Icons

Know I had gone over these before but thought it would help to have them all together for you to give you a one stop shop to get all your social media added to your blog.

How to Add Instagram to your Blog by Lewis Lane

Adding Instagram to your blog is pretty easy no matter what platform you use for your blog.  Here are the steps on How to Add Instagram to your Blog for each platform.

Self-Hosted WordPress

  1. Go to Snapwidget.com

  2. Click on Get Your Free Widget
  3. Fill in your Instagram Username in the first box

  4. Select Widget Type you would like
  5. All the rest of the fields are optional, and can adjust how it will display on your page
  6. Click Get Widget, and copy the code in the box
  7. Then go to your WordPress Dashboard
  8. Select the Text Widget, and drag it to the area where you would like it to display
  9. Then paste the code you copied from SnapWidget in the box
  10. Fill in the title in the Title Box
  11. Save Widget

WordPress.Com

  1. Find the Instagram Widget in the widget list, and drag it to the box for the area where you would like it to display
  2. Once you open the widget you will have to authorize your Instagram account
  3. Give it any title you want in the title box
  4. Then the rest of the options are up to you as to how you want it to display on the page, so adjust them to your liking
  5. Save widget

Blogger

  1. Go to Snapwidget.com
  2. Click on Get Your Free Widget
  3. Fill in your Instagram Username in the first box
  4. Select Widget Type you would like
  5. All the rest of the fields are optional, and can adjust how it will display on your page
  6. Click Get Widget, and copy the code in the box
  7. Go to your layout screen and select Add a Gadget in whatever section where you would like the Instagram to appear
  8. From the list find the one that says HTML/JavaScript

  9. Then paste the code you got from SnapWidget in the box
  10. If you want a title to appear about just enter that in the Title Box above the Content Box

  11. Click Save and it is added to the page

That is all you have to do and you will have your Instagram feed showing on your page.  This will give  your page a fun look, and automatically updates as you add pics on Instagram.  Adding Instagram to your blog will easily display to your readers what you are sharing on Instagram, and hopefully entices them to follow you on Instagram.
