Have noticed on a lot of blogs with great images that are not Pinnable. What does it mean to make images “Pinnable”? Making Images Pinnable means you are making your blog images ready, and easy to be pinned on Pinterest.
Some bloggers just use the regular share buttons they put at the bottom of the post, and assume that readers will Pin it that way. Regular share buttons are fine, but very easy to be overlooked.
The easier the image is to pin the better chance that it will get shared. Take this image for example.
When readers hover over the image they see the Pin button right over the image, and all they have to do is click on that button. The button takes the reader right to Pinterest to share. This way they can add it to Pinterest right when they are thinking about it instead of having to wait till the end of the post.
Making a image “Pinnable” is pretty easy.
Steps for Making Images Pinnable
These are the steps for a self hosted WordPress
- Design the Pit It button you want by using any graphic programs you want
(i.e Photoshop, Pic Monkey, etc) - Install the Plugin
- There are a few PlugIns you can use that will add a PinIt Button. After ton of research, and trying a few out I have stuck with the jQuery Pin It Button For Images. The reason I have stuck with it is because it had all features I was looking for, and allowed me to easily customize my own button. To install go to your WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > Add New and search for jQuery Pin It Button For Images . Install and activate the plugin.
- Next go to Dashboard > Settings > jQuery Pin It Button For Images, to see the settings to select where you want the button to appear
(You can see below on mine I added a pin class so that only images I add a Pin class to will show a Pin It Button).

If you are going to take all that time to create a great looking image I think you should do yourself a favor, and make it easy to share.
Hope this helps. Need any help just let me know. If you try this or use this Plugin would love to hear your thoughts.
