Promised a post on San Diego, and here it is. Sorry it has taken a while to do the post, but just been getting back into the swing of things since getting back from San Diego. Why is it when you come back from vacation no matter how much you get done before hand you still come back to a ton of stuff to do? This was a short just weekend trip we flew out Friday night, and got back Monday night. Purpose of the trip was just to have a fun weekend getaway hanging out on the beach, and catching the Dallas Cowboys play the San Diego Chargers. When looking into places to stay for the trip we ended up deciding to rent a condo in Mission Beach. The condo worked out better than getting a hotel cause most hotels were not right on the beach, and since we were traveling with another couple we were able to split the cost of a 2 bedroom condo making it cheaper than a hotel. The condo we rented was through San Diego Sunset Vacation Rentals. The condo did look just like the pictures they had on the website. The Condo was right on the main strip of the beach, and had the most amazing views.
Nice thing about staying in Mission Beach or really probably most places in San Diego is that everything is pretty close, so not a lot of driving to get around.
We found an amazing cafe called Mission Cafe less than a mile from condo we were able to walk to and have breakfast both mornings . Decided to try it out cause it got good reviews when we were looking on Yelp. Just looking at the pics on Yelp made us hungry. The food ended up tasting even better than it looked, and that is why we ended up going back the next morning. Probably the best pancakes and french toast I have ever had. Mission Cafe is a must if you are in the area.

Saturday we pretty much spent the day at Coronado Island hanging out on the beach, and went to the Gas Lamp District. This was our second time in San Diego and both times we have ended up going to Coronado, and the Gas Lamp District. They are both pretty great places to go. Coronado Island is where the Navy Seals train, and one of the top beaches in the US. The only bad thing about Coronado is finding a place to park. First time we went we were not able to find parking, so we could get out and check out the beach. This time we had good luck finding parking. Ended up walking down by the Hotel Del Coronado to find a spot to hang out for the afternoon. They had umbrellas & chairs you could rent, and they setup for you for $15. Made for a perfect spot to chill.
Gas Lamp District is pretty much a must if you go to San Diego. It has something for everyone with tons of restaurants, and bars to choose from. This time we ended up at Henry’s Pub. Henry’s was pretty crowded, but they did play good music.
Sunday was Game Day!! We left for San Diego with no tickets to the game cause we figured closer to game time we could get a good deal on the tickets. We ended up finding a good deal on tickets on eBay Saturday night, and they were lower level. They were awesome seats. We were told best way to go to game was take the trolly, so we took it. Apparently everyone takes it cause when you try to leave the line was wrapping around the place. Only take the trolly to Qualcom as long as you are ok with waiting in line for a while after the game or event. Too bad the Cowboys lost, but still a fun trip.
While waiting to leave on Monday we did some shopping and found Wave House had been right by condo the whole time. We ended up killing some time there watching people surf and had a few drinks. They surf practice area where they teach people to surf or you can just practice tricks. It is a really cool place you should check out if you are in the area. Since we did not get a lot of time to check it out want to go there if we go back. The food looked good, and real cool atmosphere. You can eat inside or outside, and you are right on the beach.
Hope this gives you an idea of where to go in San Diego. San Diego is such a great place to go with awesome weather.
Hope you had a great weekend! Happy Monday!
