Ok imagine this. You have all these wonderful post you have invested so much time to create. Then one day you go to look at your blog, and it is all gone. What would you do? Have a mini panic attack? That was pretty much me when that happened to me earlier this year. Was so mad at myself not backing up my site like I know I should. Luckily I was able to find a way to find an archive copy of my blog. When I was talking with customer service at GoDaddy, and told them what happened. They suggested I look at Wayback Machine to help recover my old post.
What is Wayback Machine you ask? It is a internet archive.
Wayback Machine was such a life saver. I was able to easily find my old post on Wayback Machine for free, and then I could recreate them on my new site.
How to use the Wayback Machine
- Go to Wayback Machine
- Type in your blog URL
- Go to the latest version of your blog for your latest post by clicking on the snapshot you want to view
- Then just find the post your are looking for, and copy the content from the page
Now if you are looking for a specific post and know the URL for the post you can use that too. Told you it is really that easy. One thing you do need to watch. When you copy links it add something extra to the URL like this
https://web.archive.org/web/20150404084222/http://instagram.com/Lewis_Lane
You would just need to adjust your like by taking that first part up to the http: off
I was so happy I found this. Really helped me rebuild my blog after losing it instead of having to start completely over. After reading some of my old post it made me want to revamp them to make them better, but at least I had the starting point.
