Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree

As you can tell from this week I love Christmas, and if you follow me on Instagram you can tell I get into decorating my house for Christmas. Shared how I decorated last year too, but of course I lost that post when my blog went down 🙁

This year I had to change things up a little. Since we have moved into our house I have put up 2 trees. One upstairs and one down stairs. We bought new furniture for the living room at the beginning of the year, and now wasn’t sure if I was going to have space to fit the tree downstairs. Jeremy said I didn’t have to put it up, but I told him I was finding a way lol. Just wouldn’t feel like Christmas without seeing the tree in the living room.

I was able to fit the tree in downstairs by using a taller skinnier tree. Like to think of this tree as my memory tree. Most of the ornaments on it have some kind of special meaning to me. Wedding bells to represent the year Jeremy and I got married. Last year I made sure to buy Arya her ornament, and I still have Rider’s ornament on the tree. We have started a tradition of buying ornaments when we travel. Have a set of fireman snowmen that my Aunt made me.

The one upstairs is my sports tree since I love sports. This tree I have been putting up since I started putting up my own tree. It represents all my favorite sports teams. Last year I even finally broke down and made my own tree skirt.

Last year I got this idea on how to decorate my dining room from Pinterest. Think it turned out pretty cool looking.

Got a lot of stuff to do to get ready for Christmas tomorrow, so this is probably my last post before Christmas. With that being said. Just want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas! Hope you get to enjoy some good food, and make some great memories with your family!

Laundry Room Makeover

Very excited to be getting to finally share my laundry room makeover. It has been done for a while now just lots of things have kept me from getting to write this post till now. Really love the way the laundry room makeover turned out, so wanted to share. Pinterest is where we got our inspiration for the laundry room makeover as well as inspiration for other makeovers we have done at the house.

Now here is how it turned out

This laundry room makeover took us quite a while to complete. We started by giving the walls some color taking them from a tan color to red (Ralph Lauren-Maleya Red at Home Depot). We picked this color cause in the pin we liked the room was red, and if you follow me on Instagram you will notice this is same color as my dining room. Since we were in the painting mood we also freshened up the doors by giving them a fresh coat of white paint.

My favorite part was getting rid of the dingy looking white linoleum, and replacing it with tile.

You can see in the before pic we had just a shelf, and we replaced it with cabinets instead. The cabinets along with board you see across the top of washer and dryer we had custom made by a local company.This was the part that took a few months cause we had to wait to get the cabinets in, and then stained them.

For the back splash we used leftover stone we had bought at Home Depot when we had our fireplace stoned a few years ago. The coloring we thought went well with the red, and dark cabinets.

Accents

The baskets you see just happened to have had lying around the house, and the iron you see sitting by the baskets we got from a antique shop.The pictures on the wall we found at Hobby Lobby.

Got the pull out organizer from Home Depot cause I am short, and no way was it going to work pulling detergent out of the cabinets all the time.

This took a while, but the outcome was so worth it. Have to say I am extremely happy with how the laundry room turned out. Now loving how it turned out has not made me want to do laundry, but makes it easier lol.

Bathroom Remodel Project

Like I mentioned in a previous post we have been doing quite a bit of remodeling at the house. We already remodeled our staircase this year. After finding a cool idea on Pinterest for our half bathroom (you can see it on my Home Board) we decided to redo our half bath. Our half bath was just plain. The bath was white & tan with no color and just needed something added to it. One of those things I have been wanting to do just hadn’t got around to.

We did keep the walls the same color just freshened up the paint by going over with a semi-gloss finish . Originally it was just a flat finish. It is amazing what a difference a fresh coat of paint can make. When we started the project I was just wanting to give the room some color, but we ended up doing more than I ever intended. Besides updating the paint we pretty much ended up replacing everything. Even replaced the light fixtures and towel holders

Tried to get the best pics I could but since such a small room it was hard.

We were really excited we finally found the floating shelves at Lowe’s just like what was in the pin that we liked. Found most of the fixtures we ended up using at Lowe’s. The mirror along with the pictures we ended up finding at Ross for cheap. Ross is great for finding decorative pieces, and it won’t break the bank.

Think Jeremy did a pretty good job, and the bathroom remodel turned out just like the pin we were going for. Still have a few decorative things I would like to do.

Next remodel is the laundry room.

Craft Room Ideas & Tour

Been doing a lot of remodeling at the house this year, and wanted to share these projects as we do them. Already have shown our Staircase Remodel. Next I wanted show you how my Craft Room has turned out. The craft room is probably one of my favorite rooms in the house. Even though I don’t spend as much time up there as I would like lol.

Craft Room Ideas & Tour

This desk I found at Ikea just works out perfect for crafting because it is thick, has good space, and storage. The zebra print blanket you see over the chair at the desk is a no sew blanket I made. Just had to have a zebra print blanket to go with the room lol

Lots of the decorations you see are DIY projects that either I have done or were made by my Mom & Aunt.

These curtains I just recently found at Anna’s Linens. Anna’s is a great place with a good selection and reasonable prices for curtains and bedding.

This is a firefighter shadowbox I made using Jeremy’s badges, and things he has collected over the years being in the fire service that I have up on my shelf in the craft room.

Michael’s has great organizational things for craft rooms. Picked all these up to put together a desk. (Tip: Michael’s usually puts these on sale Black Friday for 50% off, so you can get them for pretty cheap. That is what I did, and most were less than $20) .

Staircase Remodel Project

Since we moved into our house back in 2009 every year pretty much we have done some kind of remodeling project. Think it is funny we have done so much remodeling considering thought the house was close to perfect when we moved it. Funny how you can always find something you want to change about your house isn’t it? You complete one project, and then somehow find something else to change. It is like a never ending list.

STAIRCASE REMODEL PROJECT

Last year we redid our fireplace. For our next project we decided to give our staircase a facelift. Currently our staircase is just wood painted white, and looks chipped & dingy. For a while now we have wanted to give the staircase a facelift. Our idea was to change it to rod iron to make more modern looking, and hopefully the rod iron would hold up better than the wood. Also we thought this facelift to the staircase would increase our resale value on the house.

We finally decided to get an estimate, and have our staircase redone. We got a quote from a few places , but decided to go with Luxury Floors & Stairs. Luxury Floors & Stairs did a great job and were able to complete the job real quick. The entire thing took two days to complete.

Really love how it turned out. Having the staircase remodeled has really given the house an entirely different look. The black rod iron look ended up matching, and going well with our current fixtures & things we already had in the house. I highly recommend Luxury Floors & Stairs if you need any floor or stairway remodeling done.
